Bikers of Halifax and Nova Scotia 1920 to 1960
(George Colquhoun Collection)
By Don Cunningham
Over 250 photos of bikers taken in Halifax and Nova Scotia. These photos cover the period 1920 to 1960 and show how things were in the world of motorcycles prior to electric starts and paved roads. Witness hill climbs on Citadel Hill and races at the exhibition grounds which was located on Almon Street and is now the home to the main post office.
Endurance runs were held annually and began in downtown Halifax. These photos show the changes that have taken place on streets and places throughout the province. This is truly a glimpse of the sport of motorcycling that has long since disappeared.
